What is the National External Diploma Program (NEDP)?

The NEDP is a high school diploma program for the adult who has acquired many academic skills through life and work experiences. This flexible program allows you to complete assignments at home, set your own pace, and work with knowledgeable and helpful professional educators. Through a series of take-home projects and spot check interviews, this program measures your academic and life skills, including, but not limited to:

      • Reading

      • writing

      • mathematics

      • oral communication

      • critical thinking

As you work toward your high school diploma, you will demonstrate and increase your awareness of occupational, social, consumer, aesthetic, government, and scientific issues by:

      • Using data-gathering skills

      • manipulating data

      • analyzing data

      • applying data

      • solving problems

This program is Recommended for Adults who:

      • Are highly motivated

      • are 21 years or older

      • are self-directed

      • prefer to demonstrate their knowledge in practical ways

      • are comfortable using a computer

Program Features:

      • Confidentiality

      • flexible study schedule

      • ability to demonstrate mastery of skills without requiring classroom time

Completion Time:

      • Varies with the individual student because NEDP is self-paced

      • average completion time is six months to one year


THE NATIONAL EXTERNAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM OFFERS A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA THAT IS:

      • Issued by New Britain Adult Education

      • Recognized by employers

      • Accepted by institutions of higher learning
